Senior Azure DevOps Engineer

Summary: The Senior Azure DevOps Engineer plays a pivotal role within the DevOps team, bridging the gap between software development, quality assurance, and IT operations. With a deep understanding of contemporary DevOps practices, this individual is crucial in deploying software solutions, enhancing system sustainability, and implementing cloud-based installations. The Senior DevOps Engineer works closely with software development, testing, and security teams to configure, integrate, and maintain customer systems across multiple verticals using a variety of technologies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Utilize open source, enterprise, and cloud technologies to deliver solutions, primarily on cloud environments
    • Lead the design, development, and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure design, security validation processes, unit testing, documentation, and code review
    • Build software solutions, perform installations and configurations, implement reusable components, and assist through all stages of the implementation lifecycle
    • Develop and maintain automated deployments using configuration management tools, deploy new modules, upgrades, and fixes within production environments
    • Deploy components ready for production following established processes and procedures
    • Perform routine application and infrastructure maintenance tasks, creating requirements and procedures for these tasks
    • Troubleshoot customer systems, assisting with error resolution, develop deployment scripts, and performance testing
    • Participate in the development of functional specifications based on inputs from the product team, translating those into deployment, security checking, and automation requirements
    • Provide inputs to team members to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls
    • Lead and contribute to team discussions such as design sessions, code reviews, deployment policies, etc.
    • Work alongside project management teams to monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
    • Perform software release management or build management, assisting the test team in setting up test beds and resolving build issues
    • Mentor and train engineers to improve processes; assist with adhering to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 policies

Prerequisites:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
    • Experience: Five or more years of Software DevOps and security experience; DevSecOps experience a plus
    • Certifications: None required; Azure or similar cloud certification a plus
    • Clearances: The company would require the employee to comply with state level clearances on a case-by-case basis; these would be applied for and paid by the employer

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

    • Language Skills: Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Perl, Python, SQL, CLi), familiar with source control tools (CVS or equivalent).
    • Infrastructure Skills: Proficiency in Azure/Azure Gov
    • DevOps Tools: Azure DevOps ,Terraform, Github, Security tools (Qualys, Blackduck, etc.)
    • Cloud Services: Installation and configuration of AKS, Azure Key Vault, Azure Virtual Networking, KeyCloak, various DB Services, etc.
    • Reasoning Skills: Must have excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting; strong sense of urgency and accountability with exceptional time management skills
    • Technical Skills: Highly proficient in contemporary technologies

 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $107,000 to $135,000 with a target annual 10% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
