About the role
Exciting times ahead! We're expanding and looking for a dynamic Senior Network Security Engineer to join our local Network Services team! In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of security and network infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with our network and IT teams to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and systems.

 

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in a security network environment, with experience designing and implementing firewalls, load-balancers, SD-WAN, and routers.
  • Expert understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QOS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
  • Familiar with security standards like ISO 27000, NIST, and Essential 8.
  • Experience with security tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM) and scripting (Python, Ansible) for automation.
  • Vendor certifications (CCNP/CCIE Security, NSE6+, PCNSE, CCSE, CCSM, etc.)
  • Extensive documentation skills and ability to produce quality artifacts (High/Low level designs, diagrams, as-build, handover).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Mentoring skills to take empower and help grow the team’s local knowledge and expertise.
  • ITIL process knowledge (Asset/Change/Incident management)

 

Accountabilities include

  • Design, implement, and maintain network/ security solutions, such as firewall, SD-WAN, VPN, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Monitor network security systems for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards where needed.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
  • Act as an escalation point for high priority/complex security incidents.
  • Respond to security incidents and breaches.
  • Keep up to date with the latest security trends and threats.

 

Desirables

  • Understanding of Data Centre and Service Provider networks (MPLS, VRF, underlay/overlay, QoS).
  • Network segmentation, Cisco SDA, Zero Trust, SASE.
  • Experience with the design & deployment of SD-WAN solutions (Cisco and/or Fortinet).
  • Understanding of cloud networking (Azure, AWS)
