Field UC & VoIP System Engineer (Cisco)

As NEC continues to grow its footprint in Western Australia, we are seeking an experienced Field Unified Communications & VoIP Systems Engineer to join our Field Services team based in Perth.
This is a site-based, hands-on role supporting critical Cisco UC infrastructure at a key government client location. You’ll be the go-to technical expert for resolving issues, conducting preventative maintenance, and keeping communication systems operating reliably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site support for incidents, service requests, and ongoing maintenance of UC endpoints and infrastructure within agreed SLAs.
- Use diagnostic tools including Wireshark, Cisco RTMT, and other Cisco utilities for real-time fault identification and resolution.
- Maintain a spare parts inventory and deliver efficient break-fix support.
- Follow NEC’s change management processes, ensuring accurate documentation and clear stakeholder communication.
- Manage escalations and liaise with internal teams and external vendors to drive resolution.
- Travel between client sites, representing NEC in a professional and proactive manner.
- Availability for after-hours and on-call support as required.
- Contribute to additional support or project-based duties as required.
Key Skills & Experience:
Require 3–5 years’ hands- on experience in similar role and managing and troubleshooting UC & VoIP Systems in large and corporate and government environments.
Strong preference for CCNP Collaboration/Voice aligns with industry standards.
Proven experience with UC platforms, including:
- 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in a similar role, supporting and troubleshooting UC and VoIP systems in large corporate or government environments.
- Strong preference for candidates with CCNP Collaboration/Voice, in line with industry expectations.
- Demonstrated expertise with:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
- Cisco Instant Messaging & Presence (IM&P)
- Cisco Unified Contact Centre Express (UCCX)
- Voice gateways (ISR/CSR) – highly desirable
- Wireshark and Cisco RTMT for diagnostics and fault resolution
- Solid understanding of SIP, VoIP, QoS, and enterprise UC network integration.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Cisco Professional-Level Certification (CCNP Collaboration) – strongly preferred
- Cisco Associate-Level Certification (CCNA) - desirable
- TIL Foundation Certificate – desirable
- Construction Induction (White Card) – preferred
Additional Requirements:
- National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Must hold or be eligible for a working with Children Check
- Ability to work in Australia without restriction
- Australian Citizenship - Desirable
