As NEC continues to expand its footprint in Western Australia, we are seeking an experienced Cisco Voice Engineer to join our Perth-based Field Services team.
This is an onsite, hands-on role for a telephony professional with proven Cisco Unified Communications expertise, supporting critical Cisco CUCM infrastructure for a key government client.
You will be the primary technical contact for maintaining and optimising their Cisco Unified Communications Systems, including troubleshooting issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the platform remains reliable, secure, and aligned with best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site support for incidents, service requests, and ongoing maintenance of Cisco CUCM UC endpoints and infrastructure within agreed SLAs.
- Use diagnostic tools for real-time fault identification and resolution.
- Maintain a spare parts inventory and deliver efficient break-fix support.
- Follow NEC’s change management processes, ensuring accurate documentation and clear stakeholder communication.
- Travel between client sites, representing NEC in a professional and proactive manner.
- Be available for after-hours and on-call support as required.
- Contribute to additional support or project-based duties as required.
Skills & Experience
3–5 years’ experience in a similar field role, managing and troubleshooting Cisco CUCM UC infrastructure in large corporate or government environments.
Hands-on experience with:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) – Required
- Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
- Cisco Instant Messaging & Presence (IM&P)
- Cisco Unified Contact Centre Express (UCCX)
- Voice gateways (ISR/CSR) – Highly desirable
- Proficiency in Wireshark and Cisco RTMT for diagnostics and fault resolution.
- Strong knowledge of SIP, VoIP, QoS, and enterprise UC network integration.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of issues.

Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Cisco Professional-Level Certification (CCNP Collaboration) – strongly preferred
- Cisco Associate-Level Certification (CCNA) - desirable
- ITIL Foundation Certificate – desirable
- Construction Induction (White Card) – preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with no work restrictions
- Must hold or be eligible National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Must hold or be eligible for a working with Children Check
