**Investment Strategy VP**

NEC X is the Silicon Valley-based venture studio and open innovation arm of NEC Corporation. Located in Palo Alto, CA, NEC X drives startup creation, corporate venture investment, and strategic partnerships that connect the Silicon Valley ecosystem with NEC's global technology assets.

As a pivotal member of the NEC X team, the Investment Strategy VP will drive the strategic expansion of NEC’s global investment capabilities and presence within the Silicon Valley ecosystem. This role bridges the gap between Tokyo’s corporate strategy and the world’s most dynamic startup environment, focusing on fund architecture, strategic networking, and executive engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Fund Strategy & Structuring

  • Lead the end-to-end strategic planning and scheme design for new NEC investment funds. He/She will be responsible for defining investment mandates and building robust frameworks that align with NEC’s long-term corporate vision.

Ecosystem Development

  • Strengthen and scale NEC’s footprint within the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem. By cultivating deep relationships with founders, accelerators, and co-investors, He/She will ensure NEC remains at the forefront of emerging technological trends and market shifts.

Executive Diplomatic Relations

  • Act as the primary liaison for visiting NEC senior executives. He/She will curate and facilitate high-level engagements with Venture Capitalists, industry thought leaders, and subject matter experts to foster knowledge exchange and strategic partnerships.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in venture capital, startup acceleration, or corporate venture
  • Deep knowledge of the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem and VC fund landscape
  • Strong network across VCs, founders, and corporate innovation leaders
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable working across US and Japan business cultures
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred

The anticipated salary range for this position is $148,000 to $193,000; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
