Role Summary: The Solution Architect – Smart City Projects is responsible for designing, integrating, and delivering end‑to‑end technology solutions across urban infrastructure programs such as smart governance, IoT-based utilities, mobility, safety, and sustainability initiatives. The role involves working closely with city authorities, system integrators, technology partners, and cross‑functional teams to architect scalable, secure, and interoperable smart city platforms.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop end‑to‑end technical architectures for smart/safe city use cases (IoT, ICT infrastructure, command & control centers, smart mobility, surveillance, utilities, environmental monitoring).
  • Design cloud-native, edge-based, and hybrid IoT architectures.
  • Create FRS ,SRS ,Network Architecture ,high-level (HLD) and low-level design (LLD) ,UAT ,Go Live documents.
  • Ensure solutions comply with open standards, interoperability frameworks, and ,cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Architect and integrate:
    • IoT sensors and gateways
    • Data platforms, AI/ML analytics
    • GIS, SCADA, ITMS ,IBTS ,ICCC ,BMS, VMS, EMS, and third‑party APIs
  • Oversee platform deployment, data flow models, and real-time event processing.
  • Work with municipal corporations, consultants, SI partners, OEMs, and government bodies.
  • Conduct technical workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and solution walk-throughs.
  • Support RFP responses, solution presentations, and technical clarifications.

 

  • Provide architectural governance during execution.
  • Validate vendor designs, BoQ, and technical compliance.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and technical acceptance.
  • Ensure designs align with MoHUA and standard guidelines .
  • Implement scalable microservice and API-driven architecture principles.
  • Evaluate emerging smart city technologies (AI/ML, digital twins, 5G, EV infrastructure, adaptive traffic, smart waste systems).
  • Quality of solution design and architecture documentation.
  • On-time delivery of solution components.
  • Cost optimization and architecture scalability.
  • Successful integration and performance of IoT systems.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and project acceptance.

Prerequisites:

 

  • Strong understanding of IoT platforms, edge computing, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
  • Experience with networking, data center, virtualization, API integration, microservices.
  • Expertise in ICT infrastructure: passive fiber, command center setup, NOC/SOC.
  • Knowledge of GIS, smart surveillance, traffic management, smart lighting, environment sensors, etc.
  • Proficiency in system architecture tools (Visio, Draw.io, UML).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical thinking, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders 
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields.
  • 10–15 years of experience in smart cities, IoT, enterprise architecture, or public sector solutioning.
