The Role
We are looking for a 3GPP RAN WG1 Standardization expert, for 5G-Advanced and 6G technology research and standardization including the participation of 3GPP RAN WG1 meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate technology concepts for 6G and 5G-Advanced technology (Release 20 and beyond) and prepare internal reports and presentations.
- Participate in the brainstorming sessions for technology concept / idea generation in the 5G-Advanced/6G physical layer domain.
- Prepare 3GPP meeting contribution documents (Tdocs, CRs) considering the result of internal investigations.
- Attend 3GPP RAN WG1 standardisation meetings and present NEC contributions.
- Draft 5G-Advanced and 6G technology patents in alignment with 3GPP and associated industry standards.
- Analyse and report on the contributions submitted by other companies into RAN WG1.
- Prepare 3GPP meeting reports and de-brief NEC internal teams.
- Follow 5G/6G technology developments in other 3GPP WG and related organisations.
- Collaborate with NEC standardisation delegates in 3GPP and other related forums like O-RAN, Next G Alliance, and ETSI.
- Support other engineering and customer facing teams on topics related to 3GPP standardization e.g. for reviews, technical Pre-sales or trouble shooting.
About You
- Deep understanding of the 3GPP mobile telecommunications system and excellent knowledge of 5G NR (RAN1) specifications and functionality.
- Excellent knowledge of 5G-Advanced architectures and Physical Layer (L1) signal processing.
- Deep knowledge of RAN1 (Physical Layer) standards and related specifications.
- Represent NEC Telecom MODUS and as such a common sense and logical approach to problem resolution is required.
- Ability to think creatively and clearly about problems, generating and presenting possible solutions for review.
- Motivated and able to work pro-actively and with determination under minimum supervision, prioritising between tasks and managing your own time.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as well as an ability to work well as part of a team.
- Available to travel and be away for overseas meetings (approximately 6 times per year for up to 1 week) is required.
Desirable:
- Experience of patent filing for 3GPP and /or other wireless technologies.
- Experience of preparing and presenting 3GPP contributions and getting agreement on them so they can go into 3GPP Technical Report /Technical Standards (Tdocs, CRs drafting and presenting).
- Experience of attending 3GPP RAN WG1 standardisation meetings.
Qualifications
Good honours degree or higher in Communications, Electronics, Physics, Computing or Maths. (PhD in Wireless Communications or Digital Signal Processing preferred).
