Role Summary:

Position Title

Intern /Apprentice (Trainee Test Engineer)

Role Summary:

1. Ensure the task assigned by the team lead is completed and escalate in case of any issues.
2. Must be able to meet deadlines and be flexible to manage changing priorities.
3. Must be able to follow the Team lead instructions and able to complete the assignments
4. Team player – willing and able to drive collaborative efforts across the QA organization to improve product quality.
5. Willing to support over the weekend / extra efforts to complete testing deliverables as and when needed.
6. Participate in knowledge transfer with the team and business units.
7. Create, review and approve test plans, requirements traceability matrix, test scenarios, test summary reports, scripts or procedures such as database impacts, software scenarios or usability.
8. Work closely with product owners, BA, development, offshore and onshore QA teams in gathering, reviewing and clarifying business requirements and functionality, BRD, Release Notes and Impact documents.
9. Estimate Test Design and Test Execution efforts, assign Complexity and Priority to test cases.
10. Be a gatekeeper of Test Environments (QA & UAT1) and control what versions and when are being deployed to these environments.
11. Create SQL queries, and utilize SQL Server Management Studio; MS SQL 2008 and 2012 environments. Oracle 11G
12. Performs all functions as assigned by management and team leads

Prerequisites:

1. Qualification -
2. Bachelor degree or equivalent in Computer Science, business or related field
3. 0 to 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance, software testing and test automation
4. Basic Understanding of Quality Assurance standards and methodology
5. Good attitude and communication skills
6. Should be willing to work and learn on the job the various aspect of Software Testing.

SKILLS

1. Knowledge with Structured Query Language (SQL) required
2. Ability to work with and manipulate large data files (e.g. using Excel, Access, etc.)
3. Able to extract & deploy releases from TFS and Jenkins to test environments, restart jobs or services.
4. **Test automation experience using QTP, VB Scripting, JMeter**
5. Knowledge on the relational databases and entity relationship modeling
6. Ability to read, understand & extract business logic from standard structured code (e.g. XML, Java, etc.)
7. Knowledge of UNIX, TFS, SVN and HP ALM

“NICE TO HAVE” REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

1. Experience using one or more languages such as Python, Java, VB, C, C++
2. Able to read and analyze code for potential bugs
3. Industry-recognized certification in the areas of Quality Assurance and testing (e.g., ISTQB / CSTE, CS Quality Assurance, and CQE) helpful

Base Location: Chennai, but flexible to travel
