Position Summary:
The Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering application training to both customers and internal employees. This includes creating and updating course materials, developing curricula, and preparing sample test data. The role also involves reviewing and testing MBIS software applications to ensure they meet customer functionality requirements. The Technical Trainer acts as a key liaison between customers and NEC staff, providing support on MBIS-related issues and inquiries. Additionally, this position involves maintaining and creating training materials for the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS).

While no prior knowledge of MBIS, Tenprint, or Latent practices is required, the candidate will be trained on these subjects. A technical foundation is necessary, including basic server knowledge, familiarity with remote access protocols (RDP, SSH), and the ability to learn customized software. This role receives general guidance and direction, allowing for growth and development in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 35%: Deliver training sessions to NEC staff and customers, including webinars and in-person sessions.
  • 30%: Collaborate with Development and Engineering teams in the creation of new MBIS software applications. Conduct system integration testing on both new and updated software.
  • 15%: Provide troubleshooting support to customers experiencing operational issues with tenprint or latent fingerprinting technology.
  • 20%: Develop and compile user documentation and training materials for all MBIS applications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Prior experience in the biometrics field is not required. Preference will be given to candidates with IT support or customer management experience.
  • Certifications: No certifications required for this role.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical calculations required for the analysis and ranking of biometric matches.
  • Reasoning Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting MBIS technology and learning new software applications.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience in providing IT support for employees or customers.
    • Familiarity with IT fundamentals and remote server access tools.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Azure DevOps, Office Suite).
    • Basic knowledge of video capturing and editing tools (e.g., Snagit, Camtasia).

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work Environment: Hybrid work environment (combination of remote and on-site).

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Stand-up desks are available for flexibility.
    • Extended periods of time spent reading from computer screens.

  • Travel: Up to 50% travel required, including customer site visits for training and attending industry trade shows and seminars.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $69,000 to $86,000 with a target annual 7.5% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s). Specialization Description

Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs, including standard, repeatable modules and customized/new product modules, for customers, employees, and/or field support teams. Sources for venue, vendors, processes, and technologies. Identifies critical learning needs; prioritizes and approves budgeted resources. Reviews, validates, and modifies the training plan regularly to achieve learning solution objectives and expectations. Effectively and proactively manages the entire training project lifecycle which involves Envisioning (Vision/Scope), Planning (Project Plan and Functional Specs), Developing (Instructional Design), Stabilizing (BETA/Train the Trainer), and Deploying (coordination of people, staffing, and other resources and communication). Develops training documentation and uses a variety of training mediums such as classes, workshops, Computer Based Training (CBT), and on-line help. Measures training return on investment (ROI) and pilot-tests new training techniques, tools, and processes to increase training effectiveness
