Senior Azure Cloud Ops Engineer
We are NOT looking for a AWS engineer who has used Azure.
If you have primarily Azure Cloud Ops experience, this may be the role for you. We are looking for someone with skills in many Azure areas: K8, IaC, setting up Azure AKS platform, strong background in containers, cloud deployments, Azure Virtual Networks, secure network configurations –VPN gateways, ExpressRoutes, highly available, design, deploying new services, solutions space in Azure, secure deployments in Gov domain, Linux commands, strong debugging skill, release management and Azure pipelines, cloud optimization for cost, FIPS, WAF, multi-tenant, etc.
Must be located in Pacific Time Zone

Summary:
The Senior Azure Cloud Ops Engineer plays a pivotal role within the cloud-ops team, bridging the gap between software development, DevOps, networking, and IT operations to drive cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure. With a strong understanding of contemporary cloud engineering practices, this individual is crucial in deploying software solutions, enhancing system sustainability, implementing cloud-based automation, and discovering ways to save cloud cost. The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer works closely with software development, testing, and security teams to configure, integrate, and build a robust, scalable, and unique infrastructure platform at scale with an emphasis on automation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Design, deploy, and manage Azure-based cloud solutions, ensuring high availability, security, efficiency, and performance.
- Develop and maintain automated deployments using configuration management tools, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and container orchestration.
- Mapping customer on-prem/hybrid network configurations to those that would work in an Azure SaaS model.
- Lead and contribute to team discussions such as design sessions, code reviews, deployment policies, etc.
- Participate in the development of functional specifications based on inputs from the product team, translating those into deployment, security checking, and automation requirements
- Work alongside project management teams to monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
25% Implement and maintain effective monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for production services. Ensure clear visibility into application and infrastructure performance, enabling prompt detection and resolution of issues.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for Azure cloud infrastructure, working with support teams to resolve incidents.
- Provide inputs to team members to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls
10% Perform software release management or build management, assisting the test team in setting up test beds and resolving build issues
10% Maximize resource optimization and efficiency in Azure cloud-based deployments; actively look for techniques to lower cloud spend.
5% Mentor and train engineers to improve processes; assist with adhering to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 policies

Prerequisites:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience: 5+ years of Azure Software CloudOps/Devops; DevSecOps experience a plus
- Certifications: Azure cloud certification a plus
- Clearances: The company would require the employee to comply with state level clearances on a case-by-case basis; these would be applied for and paid by the employer
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Language Skills: Experience with scripting languages (Terraform, PowerShell, Perl, Python, SQL, CLI), familiar with source control tools (CVS or equivalent).
Infrastructure Skills: Proficiency with Azure IAC utilized for cloud deployments. Infrastructure best practices including HA, DR, failover best practices.
DevOps Tools: Azure DevOps, Terraform, Git, Security tools (Qualys, SonarQube, Blackduck, etc.)
Cloud Services: Proficiency with AKS, Azure Key Vault, Azure Networking (Azure Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, and VPNs, etc.), Authn/Authz, Azure SQL, etc.
Reasoning Skills: Must have excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting; strong sense of urgency and accountability with exceptional time management skills
Technical Skills: Technical savvy with Azure, highly skilled engineer and troubleshooter
The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 with a target annual 10% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
