Field Support Engineer
Location: San Bernadino and Riverside CA (On-site)

Summary
Works at customer location and interacts with customer team to provide support in using NEC biometrics applications and communicates with customer team about all aspects of MBIS support. Provides support of NEC Solutions. Responsible for system support to include first level software support, as well as hardware. This person, and position, should be at a level that permits and requires the individual to take control and make necessary decisions to resolve routine situations with minimal impact to the Customer. In situations where critical system downtime may occur, with software or next level support not available at that point, the incumbent will be expected to act on self – initiative to make necessary corrective action, if possible, or take appropriate action up the chain management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 40% As a member at client location, communication with customers is most important aspect. In this customer facing role, timely, accurate and respectful communication is key.
- 40% Perform as a member of customer support engineer, support for technology, database, software, hardware and related services for our offering Biometircs IT solution technology & product, ensure uptime for mission critical law enforcement systems. Physically installs hardware & software for customer projects and marketing trade shows. Ability to perform remote access troubleshooting for UNIX and Windows based Workstations. Ability to locate, read, and transmit system/workstation logs as needed. Install, repair and maintenance of Windows based workstation terminals. Install, repair and maintenance of a variety of printers and monitors. Install, repair and maintenance of desktop scanner, RAID and SAN based data repositories. Knowledge and troubleshooting of Network LAN and WANS. Troubleshoot and install patches for a variety of UNIX , Windows, and LINUX operating configurations. Ability to complete assigned paperwork, including system site documentation.
- 10% Compliance of all customer and NEC polocies.
- 5% Assist other engineers, project managers, project staff, and sales staff in defining customer technical requirements and specifications for system/product design.
- 5% Documents procedures, policies, proposals, specifications, implementations for project and sales staff to review.

Prerequisites
Education:
BS -Computer Science
Experience:
5 to 8 years of Biometrics System support experience
Language Skills:
Excellent communication skills; fluent in English.Able to clearly and concisely explain complex situations to customers and project staff.
Reasoning Skills:
Must be able to effectively analyze and troubleshoot complex problems using logic and methodical reasoning.
Computer and/or Technical Skills:
Experience with scripting (shell; BASH, PERL, etc) a plus. Working knowledge of relational database concepts. Oracle and/or MSSQL experience required.Familiar with NAS/SAN storage solutions. Administration skills for Linux and Windows operating systems is Must. Experience with SQL/PL SQL is a highly preferred
The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,000 to $96,000 with a target annual 7.5% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
