Reporting to the CFO, this role primarily focuses on tax governance and compliance, covering key areas such as income tax, transfer pricing, GST, and FBT for Australia and New Zealand. The Tax Manager is responsible for staying up to date with tax law changes to ensure timely implementation of necessary tax, accounting, and system updates at NEC. Additionally, the role involves actively monitoring NEC’s business developments to provide education and guidance to stakeholders as needed. Serving as the primary contact for tax-related inquiries in Australia and New Zealand, the Tax Manager will also collaborate with the global head of tax and senior NECJ Tax Managers when required. Strong attention to detail and the ability to gather information from multiple sources are essential for preparing tax returns and managing relationships with external advisors.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance including preparation and lodgement of income tax, ALF, GST and FBT returns for Australian and NZ entities.
- Internal Tax Consulting to EMT and Business Units.
- Tax planning for Australian and NZ entities.
- Take the lead for Australian and NZ entities with regard to audits and reviews by taxing authorities.
- Tax effect accounting and tax reporting to NECJ.
Skills & Experience
- At least 5 years in a similar role at a multi-national corporate plus at least 5 years ‘Big Four’ experience in a tax advising/consultancy role.
- CA or CPA qualified with preferably post graduate degree/diploma in taxation.
- Knowledge of Australian, NZ and relevant international taxation laws and rulings with an emphasis on income tax, transfer pricing, GST and FBT.
- Involvement in tax aspects of systems implementations.
- Ability to ‘roll up your sleeves and dive into the detail in the preparation of Income Tax, GST and FBT returns.
