Position Overview

NEC is seeking a Switchboard Operator who is keen to learn or has a passion for working in a consistent-volume switchboard environment. This is initially a 6 month Fixed-term contract role, with possibility of extension for the right person.

 

The Switchboard Operator role involves managing both internal and external calls for the Victorian Government switchboard as well as the NEC internal switchboard, providing prompt and professional service to customers.

 

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm or experience handling a busy switchboard with high call volumes
  • Ability to manage calls within set timeframes
  • Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with databases and internet use
  • Strong telephone etiquette, communication skills, and customer service abilities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to take initiative in problem-solving and make sound judgments
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
