NEC Australia’s Indigenous Work Placement Programme delivers direct benefits to participants while connecting them with the technical expertise and resources within NEC. The programme plays a valuable role in teaching a range of work readiness skills and competencies to support participants’ entry into the technology industry and is delivered across the NT.

 

Run over semester breaks, the programme features several training activities that allow participants to see if a career in IT is achievable. The participants of the program are involved in the provision of ICT support services to NEC customers in the NT, including the NT Government. A coordinator is employed to provide regular, tailored support and advice to participants. Participants are also supported by a buddy for the duration of the programme.

 

Participants are encourage to return to NEC for as many semester breaks as they wish whilst still in school.  Participants are paid whilst here under the program. Ultimately NEC Hopes that the training received can lead to employment outcomes once school has finished.

 

What we are looking for…. 

  • Basic understanding of computers, applications, software and general IT operations
  • Ability to manage time and organise workload
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written
  • Ability to work under guidance and take instruction
  • Ability to work in a team environment
