Senior Systems Engineer

This role is based in Darwin, Northern Territory.

Are you an experienced Systems Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? NEC Australia is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Darwin on a permanent basis.

About the role

The Senior Systems Engineer will design, implement and support enterprise level infrastructure solutions across a large-scale IT environment.  They will utilise strong analytical skills, problem solving techniques and structured analysis to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-based issues. The Senior Systems Engineer will perform root cause analysis of problems, respond to incidents, fulfill service requests and action Change and Problem requests.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and optimise infrastructure performance, availability, and system health

• Implement and support Microsoft, Linux, virtualisation, and cloud platforms

• Manage incidents, outages, and on-call support, including root cause analysis and resolution

• Maintain core systems including servers, backups, patching, security compliance, and disaster recovery

• Provide L2 technical support and collaborate with vendors, third parties, and internal teams

• Drive automation, capacity planning, continuous improvement, and support project delivery and system integration

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Enterprise Technologies (Example: Exchange Server, Microsoft 365, Intune).

• Strong expertise in Active Directory, Cross-forest domains, Group Policy, PowerShell, Windows Server, and SQL.

• Experience with virtualisation technologies (Example: VMware, VDI/DaaS).

• Experience with Cloud based infrastructure

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), NPS, FIM/MIM, Entra ID, and Federation/SSO.
