Oracle Support Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA (Hybrid - 3 days on-site / 2 days remote)
NEC is seeking a Bilingual (English/Japanese) Oracle Support Engineer to join our Technical Support Engineering team in Bellevue, WA (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote).
In this position, you will provide expert technical support for computer environments utilizing Oracle database products. Working closely with NEC's global teams in the U.S. and Japan, you will diagnose and resolve complex issues, improve support processes, and contribute to ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical systems.
This is an Hybrid position, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment and enjoys working across cultures and technologies and working from home 2 days a week.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
Technical Troubleshooting (50%)
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve issues related to Oracle and server systems.
- Provide technical support to enterprise clients in Japan.
- Investigate and reproduce issues, analyze data logs, and perform root cause analysis.
- Resolve complex problems such as recovery failures, data corruption, and upgrade challenges.
System Implementation & Support (20%)
- Support system design, configuration, and development based on specifications.
- Install and configure Oracle RAC, DataGuard, Restart, and container databases.
- Administer Linux and Windows Server and Oracle VM server environments.
- Build and maintain lab virtual machine environments for testing and troubleshooting.
Process Improvement & Documentation (20%)
- Implement solutions that enhance technical support productivity and quality.
- Design and develop internal web systems, including daily reporting and equipment management tools.
- Analyze performance data and reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Maintain process documentation, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing (10%)
- Participate in team meetings, issue reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
- Collaborate closely with NEC Japan teams to support test environments and resolve build issues.
- Mentor and provide guidance to new team members as needed.

🔹 Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in technical support, software development, or QA/testing.
- Background troubleshooting enterprise databases, systems, or application environments.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
🔹 Technical Skills
- Strong administration and troubleshooting experience with Oracle Database or SQL Server.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server system administration.
- Programming experience in SQL, PL/SQL, or Java.
- Familiarity with Oracle VM environments and HA configurations (RAC, DataGuard).
- Experience setting up network and server infrastructure in lab or production environments.
- Analytical ability to interpret database and system performance reports.
🔹 Language Requirements
- Fluency in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking).
- Proficiency in English for technical communication and collaboration.
🔹 Work Environment & Expectations
- Location: Bellevue, WA. (On-site required)
- Schedule: Standard business hours; flexibility required for Japan collaboration and holiday support.
- Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel (including Japan).
- Pace: Fast-moving, dynamic work environment with frequent technical challenges.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $71,000 to $88,500 with a target annual 7.5% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
